Invent Theatre’s first AGM will be held on Monday 6th April from 12noon at Ventnor Youth Centre. The meeting is open to the public, and will see the election of officers for the next financial year as well as annoucements of future projects for 2009/10

Invent Theatre held its first ‘Young Writers Week’ in August, an event which gave young people the opportunity to develop their skills and meet other like minded people, as well as professionals. Here are some of the first pictures of the event. We will be posting more here soon.

Following on from last weeks post we are welcoming new members to join us for the next term. Beginning this Sunday (14th) and running untilthe end of October we are open to any
young people aged ten to nineteen with an interest in acting, writing or art to get in touch and be involved. We have some exciting ideas planned for this term, especially for those interested in writing and directing.
If you want to get involved simply e-mail us at inventtheatre(at)gmail(dot)com or come along this Sunday 11am to Ventnor Middle School but please bring a parent or guardian to complete a small permission form!

Invent Theatre’s first ‘Young Writers Week’ was held from the 18th to 22nd August, an opportunity that allowed those involved to create their own monologues for performance. The course also saw a local writer, a short film maker and an actor/ director vist to give advise and support on writing for public perfomrance.
The young people involved each created a monologue which was performed at Ventnor Botanic Gardens at the end of the week. We will be posting pictures of the event in the next few days.

Invent Theatre is pleased to release more details on our Young Writers Week taking place this summer.
Calling all aspiring writers!
Young Writers Week: 18th – 22nd August 2008
10am ~ 3pm daily
This summer Invent Theatre, working in partnership with the Extended Schools program, is running a ‘Young Writers Week’ for young people aged fourteen to eighteen living on the Isle of Wight. This exciting opportunity will take the form of a five day course in which those involved will write and direct a short sketch of their own which will then be performed at an open air performance in front of the general public. The five day course will also give young people the chance to meet invited guests, including professional writers, providing advise and feedback on your work.
